What is in Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream?
Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream is a luscious, mousse-like cream and one of my all time favourite moisturisers. If you told me that I could only have one moisturiser for the rest of the my life, I would choose this in an instant. It is a definite desert island pick. I have lost count on how many tubes of this superb cream I have finished. When you have it on, it feels like you’re wrapping your skin in a soft cashmere blanket. The texture is like warm butter. It glides so smoothly onto your skin. There is not an ounce of friction on your skin. There is no scent or fragrance in this cream making it universally attractive.
Marketed as suitable for very dry skin (and while this is certainly true), it’s suitable for all skin types. There is no skin type or skin condition that would not feel the immediate deep hydration, that this cream delivers. It leaves skin deeply moisturised and your skin stronger as a result.
How did the Dr.Jart+ brand start?
Dr.Jart+ is a South Korean skincare brand. It was initially created in 2004 by founder Lee Jin-wook and dermatologist Dr. Jung Sung-jae. Mr. Lee became inspired after his regular visit to his favourite dermatology clinic when he started to hear many women talk about a BB cream. BB cream or ‘blemish balm’ is a combination of products that serve as a foundation, moisturiser and sunscreen all at once. Mr. Lee realised the great potential in a BB cream and together with a lot of scientific research and testing, he launched his own cream under the brand Dr.Jart+. The BB cream proved to be a huge success.
When formulating ingredients, Mr. Lee focused on ones which would not irritate the skin. Therefore no fragrances, colours or alcohols. His clinical looking, highly innovative packaging, boldly stood out amongst its competitors. Dr. Jart+ products are science and technology based, and their original concepts are what made the brand an attractive asset in the Estée Lauder group.

I had a similar experience with Biologique Recherche P50 when my face turned a bright, angry red. The Texture of Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream
As a result of it’s smooth, buttery texture, you can imagine that under make-up it’s a dream. Like a great primer, it produces no piling as it contains no silicones. It’s not heavy, it’s not shiny, it’s utterly perfect in every way! It makes my face feel super supple, bouncy, glowy, healthy and youthful. I cannot say enough positives about this hero product. I am in love and will be deeply devoted for life.

After water, the second ingredient is Glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant and a key ingredient in many moisturisers because of its ability to hold onto water; hereby retaining moisture in the skin. Ceramides (or lipids/fats) also feature prominently in the ingredients list. Ceramides help to hold the skin together by forming a protective layer that limits moisture loss. Preventing what’s know as Trans-Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) is the secret sauce in your skincare routine. When should you use Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream?
Anytime you need more moisture in your skin, which is ALL the time, grab your Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream. Particularly for barrier repair it reign supreme. Use this solely for a week and your skin will be very thankful.
In the AM: Use it as your final moisturising step. Then apply SPF.
In the PM: After all your serums and treatments and/or retinoids, it will be your final moisturising step. If you want to buffer your retinoids, to lessen their potency, you can add this before your retinoids.
